Domaine de Saint Géry is located in Quercy Blanc, a relatively untouristed
region south of Le Lot. A gorgeous, 60-hectare complex of farmland and forest,
Domaine de Saint Géry resembles a small village with a collection of buildings
housing the restaurant, guestrooms, spa, and factory for Domaine's wonderful
foie gras—all set off from the central courtyard. The large, outdoor pool enjoys
views of the countryside, complete with grazing horses. The property was in a
state of ruin when Patrick's parents returned searching for his mother's family
history. (Saint Géry is a name associated with nobility since the 11th century.)
They purchased the home, but it wasn't until Patrick and his wife, Pascale,
decided to settle here that his mother's dream was realized. The home is
beautifully decorated in warm colours with handsome furnishings and antiques,
oriental carpets, tile floors, and modern bathrooms. Dinner is table d'hôte for
resident guests at tables set before a large fireplace. Under the artful
Patrick's direction, the experience is incredible; if you love foie gras—they
are masters! |
