Once a restful stopover for pilgrims, Domaine de Chateauneuf is a XVIIIth
century Provençal mansion located in the foothills of La Sainte Baume mountain
range. Amongst the famous guests of the Domaine was Bonaparte's family in 1794,
whilst Bonaparte was fighting against the Toulon campaign.
The Chateau was turned into a charming hotel well known and highly thought of in
the area in the 1950's. In 1999-2000 it was completely renovated and tastefully
redecorated ensuring that guests enjoy de delightful provencal way of life.
The refurbishment of the building, organised by Tonia Peyrot, is tasteful and
decorated with a sense of understated luxury using natural and traditional
products with a strong Provençal influence. The inspirational theme is the
lightness of Southern France with soft and yet bright colours, that famous
painters such as Cézanne and Matisse have portrayed in their masterpieces. Some
rooms have private terraces and all of them are equiped with king size beds.
This luxurious mansion, set in the shade of century old trees is surrounded by a
vast wooded park within Golf de la Sainte Baume. It is a restful place, a
gourmet rendez-vous, offering romantic walks, hiking and, last but not least,
golf. |
