The condition of this place is absolutely immaculate, the building dates from
the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries and all its areas are so perfectly
maintained (refurbished of course) that they look exactly as they must have been
hundred of years ago... The salons as well as the rooms are really impressive
and absolutely majestic! Now each room is fitted with an up to date bathroom.
They have only eight rooms which are distributed in two floors. In each floor
there are three rooms accessed by the main staircase of the chateau plus a
fourth room in another part of the chateau, also on the same floor level, but
accessed through a different staircase (these rooms are priced lower because the
staircase is smaller). There is a characteristic of this chateau that can be
quite appealing when traveling with family, each floor has two rooms sharing a
threshold that when the two rooms are rented together, they become a nice
apartment type arrangement; the rooms with this characteristic are the Louis
XIII and Louis XV on the first floor, and the Bleue and Montgolfiere on the
second floor. Overall, the Chateau Talhouet is a great place with a wonderful
atmosphere, where the chatelier, Monsieur Soulaine, is a great host and the cook
could not be better... |

From Rennes:
Take the direction to Vannes and there
after, road N 166, after approx. 80 Kms,
get off at Pleaucadeuc/Rochefort-en-Terre.
Once at Pleaucadeuc continue on road
D774 in the direction of Rochefort-en-Terre
and you will see a sign indicating the
way to the chateau which will be on your
right. Once you turn at the sign, you
must go on for approximately 2 Kms. (part
of it will be a dirt road through the
woods). |
