An 1870s Chateau, in parkland bordering onto the Meuse,
excellent location to visit Verdun, Luxembourg and St. Avold. If you wish to
visit this very sad area of France with all its First World War battlefields and
fortified towns and cities, this would be an excellent base.
The chateau is absolutely beautiful, looks exactly like the pictures. It is
especially stunning at night with the lights on the front of the chateau, like a
diamond in the country near Verdun. Some of the rooms overlook the park, while
others the court and a few have the view on the river Meuse; but the view out
the front on the park is the most desirable. The rooms are well decorated and
appointed, and very clean. The Chef is a genius who welcomes you in a restaurant
that looks out on the park, to enjoy a very fine French cuisine through
different menus.
Chateau des Monthairons offers a feel of quality about everything, with an
absolutely wonderful pleasant, friendly and courteous staff. |
