Chateau du Domaine St. Martin is one of the greatest address in the hills above
Nice. This Chateau, in a 14-hectare (35-acre) park, was built in 1936 on the
grounds where the Golden Goat treasure, a legendary stash of gold, was reputedly
buried. A complex of tile-roofed villas with suites was built in the terraced
gardens. You can walk through the gardens on winding paths lined with tall
cypresses, past the ruined chapel and olive trees. The exceedingly spacious
guest rooms are furnished in elegant taste. State-of-the-art bathrooms are
equipped with dual basins and luxury toiletries. The restaurant has a view of
the coast and offers superb French cuisine. In summer, many guests prefer the
poolside grill. |
