Chateau de Canisy has been in the same family ever since its creation in the twelve century. Today is owned and managed by Comte Denis de Kergorlay, who being the oldest male in the family, inherited from his father according to the aristocratic tradition. Comte Denis was the first to decide opening the chateau as a private chateau receiving guests. But not as a chateau-hotel or the typical “château privé”. It all started with “Les amis de Canisy,” an association Denis formed because there were so many friends who liked coming to Canisy for the weekends (frequently more than 30 at a time), that he decided to ask for contributions for the upkeep of the chateau. He invested all the funds in refurbishing the rooms. Chateau de Canisy is absolutely magnificent, even pictures are not enough to describe it. Each room is different and there are no set prices. At Chateau de Canisy one can enjoy the splendor of the true “Vie de chateau” and feel at home. They simply try to give you the best room available, subject to availability. Because Denis runs the place in a very enchanting and peculiar way and they are very seldom full, almost on purpose. I guess he does not want to be mistaken for a hotel by any standards!

Train:	Lison (29 Kms.)

Airport:	Caen - Carpiquet Airport (67 Kms.)

By car:	From Paris: Take Autoroute A13 in direction Rouen-Caen, at Caen take road N13 in direction Cherbourg - Bayeux. From Bayeux: Take D 572 direction of St. Lo, from there take the rocade (peripheral road) to D 999 in direction Villedieu. 2 Kms. after St. Lo, at Candol, after the rail road tracks, make a right to Canisy (D38) and a right at the first intersection onto D77. The entrance to the Chateau is the first small road on the right (300 Mts. from town).

There are four other rooms in the outbuildings that can share two bathrooms. These rooms do not have the standard to be offered to guests but they can be used by chauffeurs or persons accompanying a group instead of going into an outside inn. And for private gatherings these rooms often have the preference of teenagers

€ 5000/day for a group up to 25 people
€ 5500/day for a group from 25 to 40 people
€ 6000/day for a group up to 50 people

Booking Conditions

Chateau de Canisy is available to individuals only for a minimum stay of 2 nights.

Rates for groups are established according to the number of persons, the lenght of the stay, the nature of activities (seminar, tourism, private party, etc...).

Cancellation Policy
Reservation cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival date are non refundable.
