Château de Tennessus is located at 7 Kms. north of Parthenay
in the department of Deux-Sèvres, which in turn lies 50 Kms. due west of the
City of Poitiers.
It is a remarkably authentic fourteenth-century castle complete with moat,
working drawbridge, arrow-slits and battlements.
Privately-owned by an English family, the castle is decorated in true medieval
style; yet its lodgings offer accommodation with all the modern comforts and
facilities to create a thoroughly enjoyable vacation and relaxing holiday.
The Château is surrounded by extensive and tranquil grounds, including a large
front lawn, rose-beds and flower-gardens, a potager in the medieval style, and
recreational areas around the pool for croquet, badminton, etc.
All guests are free to enjoy the tranquil grounds of the Château; to boat and
fish in the moat, to use the swimming pool, play badminton, croquet, ping-pong,
boules at the castle. Golf, tennis, windsurfing and horse riding are all very
nearby. Or feel free just to relax and absorb the calming sense of history which
pervades the Château.
There are a number of good restaurants in the vicinity, and the owners of
Tennessus are very happy to offer advice on the best places to eat, local
specialities, etc. |
