Chateau des Sept Tours is a 15th century chateau, modified during the 19th
century, staffed by friendly, multilingual young staff, charging affordable
prices.
There are 22 very comfortable rooms in the chateau itself and a further 24 in a
modern annex known as L'Orangerie, where an excellent buffet breakfast is served.
What's more, it has everything to keep overseas visitors happy -- including its
own par-72 golf course, an archery range, and massive grounds ideal for
strolling and, in summer, an open-air swimming pool. In winter there is a
roaring log fire and an equally warm welcome, while a restaurant serving very
good regional cuisine is open all year round. Enjoyed foie gras followed by a
delightful baby turbot dish served with wild rice, but other options include the
likes of open raviolis of langoustines with pesto sauce and roast loin of lamb
with tapenade and provencal vegetables.
The Chateau des Sept Tours (named for its distinctive seven towers) can help
arrange helicopter or balloon flights over the region or cruises on the Loire,
as well as tasting sessions with local wine producers. |
