La Bastide de Moustiers

La Bastide de Moustiers was formerly the property of a master-potter, a country house with 7 beautiful bedrooms. In 1998, 4 new rooms and 1 suite were added, each of individual design and named after Provençal themes. The house was restored and renovated with the help of local artisans. The interior designing and thus, the ambiance, is the work of Tonia Peyrot. The establishment is managed by Dominique Potier, a former pastry chef and assistant of Alain Ducasse for several years. In the kitchen you will find a team led by Vincent Maillard, all of them former pupils of Alain Ducasse, of course. The menu proposed by the kitchen staff every day varies according to the availability and quality of the produce in the local markets and the Bastide's vegetable garden. Although country-style, their cooking is also delicate and sometimes surprising. The two wine menus of La Bastide are exceptional in many ways. There are over 300 different appellations. The "carte de la Bastide de Moustiers" offers a wide selection of vineyards in the meridional area. "La cave d'Alain Ducasse" offers the very quintessence of France's other vineyards.
Alain Ducasse wanted each of the 12 bedrooms to not only be different, but also poetic and charming; each one evoking a color, an aroma, an image of Provence. Thus, the rooms have been named Tournesol (Sunflower), Lavande (Lavender), Framboise (Raspberry), Amande (Almond) , Potiron (Pumpkin), Blanche (White), and La Voliere (Apiary), and also Rose, Abeille (Bee) and Coquelicot (Poppy), Pigeonnier (Pigeon room) and Olive. Right down to the finest detail, each bedroom and bathroom has its own particular style. In the Poppy room, a bath designed by the famous Philippe Starck. The Olive sitting room's fireplace, as well as the fireplace of the Poppy room are in walnut wood which confers a very intimate atmosphere. Finally but not everything, other facilities available at La Bastide include a heated spill-over open-air swimming pool, four wheel drive rental, mountain bikes at your disposal, picnic hampers (available at extra cost) and a shady terrace.
